ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE MANAGING BOARD
For the period between the General Assembly sessions the Union of the Architects in Bulgaria (UAB) is managed by a Managing Board consisting of 17 persons. The members of the Board are elected for a period of 4 years. The Board is summoned up for regular sessions at least once per every three months.
The Managing Board of UAB:
- Represents the UAB and defines the authority and representative power of its individual members.
- Determines the order and organizes the activities of the UAB.
- Ballots for deputy-chairmen of the Board in compliance with a motion of the Chairman.
- In case of a pre-term suspension of the Chairman’s rights the Board names a successor who performs the office of Chairman until the elections of the General Assembly.
- Organizes, controls, executes and takes responsibility for the implementation of the General Assembly decisions.
- Prepares the annual budget draft of the UAB and submits it to the General Assembly for endorsement.
- Approves the accounting report of the UAB and nominates an expert-accountant for its inspection and certification; approves and accepts the report of the expert-accountant.
- Accepts and confirms the number and salaries of the UAB employees.
- Accepts internal regulations with regard to problems within the scope of its competence as well as rules for organizing its activities.
- To assist its work the Board determines the number and the type of the constant and temporary commissions for the various kinds of activities related to the UAB goals and nominates the chairmen.
- Takes decisions about the UAB property in accordance with the current legislation.
- Takes decisions about new membership applications.
- Keeps a Register of the UAB members, a Register of the societies and regional unions and a Register of the clubs in compliance with Article 45.
- Acts as a legal body for the commercial societies of the UAB in accordance with the UAB General Assembly decisions for the establishments thereof.
- In case the General Assembly takes a decision for ceasing activities, the Board acts in the capacity of a liquidator.
- Nominates the UAB representatives in international organizations from submitted candidates.
- May take a decision to change the address of the UAB headquarters.

CONTROL COUNCIL
The UAB General Assembly ballots for the Control Council, the mandate of which is 4 years and consists of 5 members.
The Control Council
- Controls the observance of the Regulations and the
decisions taken by the UAB General Assembly by the Managing Board and the
UAB divisions and exercises preliminary, current and subsequent control.
- Controls the compliance with the “Standards of Professional Ethics of the Bulgarian Architect” and “The Standards of Professional Attitude”.
- Requires financial inspections and other checks, if necessary.
- May suggest invalidation of Board and UAB division decisions that contradict the current legislation or the internal regulations.
- Reports its activities to the UAB General Assembly.
- Takes decisions about problems within the scope of its competence.

COMMISSIONS
The number, name, numerical strength and functioning of the permanent and temporary commissions are governed by the Rules on the activities of the UAB Board of Directors. The commissions take decisions which are recommendatory for the Board.
